Wait List & Transfer Process

Due to the growing popularity of our race, and because we’re filling earlier and earlier each year, and because we run this race as fund raiser for the Regional Parks Foundation, we have created the following process to allow registered runners who find themselves unable to participate to transfer their registration to another runner.

The Process

If you want to join the wait list:

  1. If you want to join the wait list, send an email at ohlone50k@abovethefog.net and ask to be added to the list.
  2. Wait for a currently registered runner to offer you their spot.
  3. You two will then discuss and agree on the monetary terms of the transfer.

If you are currently registered but would like to transfer your registration:

  1. Look at the Wait List (below) and contact the person at the top of the list.
  2. Discuss and agree with the person on any terms for the transfer.

Once both parties have agreed on doing the registration transfer:

  1. Either the registered runner, or the runner taking his/her place (we don’t care which), must make a minimum $35 tax-deductible donation to the Regional Parks Foundation. You can make this donation online at www.guidestar.org Go to the web site, search for “Regional Parks Foundation”, and select the one based in Oakland, CA. Hit the “Donate Now” button and make your donation.
  2. We do not refund the registration fee to the original registered runner, nor do we collect any fee from the replacement runner. Any financial considerations (aside from the required $35 donation) are between the two runners.
  3. Email the donation receipt to ohlone50k@abovethefog.net along with the name of the currently registered runner and the contact information (name and email address) for the replacement runner.
  4. We will then update our online registration provider, Ultrasignup, such that the new runner will be permitted to register online - and at no fee.
  5. We will also update our registration list to delete the runner that is transferring out of the race.
  6. The deadline for transfers is May 1, 2010. No transfers will be accepted after this date.
  7. We order shirts in early April. We cannot change shirt sizes once the order has been placed. This means that transfers after the shirt order has been placed will receive the shirt size requested by the original registrant.

Registration for the 2011 race will open in late December.
